What we do not learn is that there are five natural and normal stages in relationships that are predictable.
In December 2022, I attended a NAADAC two-day therapeutic VIRTUAL training, Romancing the Brain: Conflict Resolution for Recovery (CRR) --facilitated by Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, BSW, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP--Executive Director of NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals.
In the 12-hour training was a session on Relationships. It provided life-changing information for me—material that I would have benefited from had I known it when I was 23-years old.

How Do I Love Thee? . . . Characteristics of Partnerships
Take an assessment of the characteristics of your relationship. Answer 13 questions to determine if your relationship is dysfunctional or functional (I prefer to say "unhealthy vs healthy").
